: I get off work at 6pm. I am home by 6:30 and Charon is waiting for me. We take the things out to my car and load it, then I call for the civil standby.

: I drive out to the house and we make it a point to park accross the street from the house so we are not on their property. The cops are already there and come out of the house as we start taking things out of my trunk. We go inside the gate, place the things on the front porch steps and go to get the 2nd load of stuff. I set mine down and turn around. A tall, skinny, hispanic cop is standing right behind me. A shorter, pudgy white cop is close to Charon, eyeing him caerfully. (Yes, kids, Charon was wearing a leather trenchcoat...)

: Which one of you is Officer Martinez?

: I am Officer Martinez.

: I reach into my wallet and produce $30 in cash. I hand it to him and he takes it.

: Would you please see that she gets this? It is the amount of the change after I cashed it in.

: Why don't you come inside and give it to her yourself?

: Because neither I nor he and here I point to Charon, will set foot inside that house again.

: I see. Well, in any case, I refuse to be your middle man.

: He hands the cash back to me.

: Very well, would one of you go get her then?

: The other cop leaves and we wait. He returns with Smurf Bitch in tow and she is already sort of crying. I hand her the money and she counts it and looks back at me.

: Where's the rest of it?

: What rest of it

: There was more than that in those piggy banks. R., all those dimes...

: I saw the piggy banks, Ms. Douglas. I wouldn't doubt that there was $500-$600 in those.

: The other cop, whose name I never caught, is bugging Charon for his ID now, and Charon digs for it, asking what he wants it for. The cop turnss purple in the face and has Charon step away from me and Officer Martinez. I don't know what happened with those two from there, but Charon somehow ended up sitting over on my car before I realized it.

: Something like that, easily.

: I can get ahold of the person who was with me to couch for the amount if you'd like. She's in Florida right now, but I could find her if it's necessary... She'd agree it was only $30... maybe $33...

: You are embarrassing your grantparents by having the cops here. You know, in my family, things like this don't occur. It's rude adn disrespectful to them. I'd be more than happy to book you right now, but they don't want to press charges. You grandmother told me about all the bad checks you wrote, and do you know that each one of those is a felony? If she won't press those against you, I certainly will.

: The other cop is now pacing like a caged cat and playing with his handcuffs.

: You deserve to spend a night in jail.

: He looks at Martinez.

: I want to put her in jail tonight. She belongs there.

: Young lady if you want to screw up your life, fine do it. Buit how dare you drag you poor grandparents into this sort of thing.

: The other cop is still playing with his cuffs and giving me nasty looks.

: Now that's not fair...

: You just keep your mouth shut adn listen to the officer, Ma'am.

: I don't have to stand here adn take...

: (to Martinez) She's about a mouthy one.

: On the contrary, Ma'am, you will remain until we have finished this. Give me your driver's lisence.

: I gave it to him and he started writing it down.

: Just so you know, he's the good cop. If it were up to me, I'd have your ass in jail right now. A night in jail is what you deserve, young lady.

: Martinez asks me all my info, work address, phone numbers, ect...

: Would you like my supervisors name as well?

: We don't need it. If and when we come to arrest you, which I will personally do, I will find that out. And then, I will put you in handcuffs and lead you around to every single person you ever worked with and embarass the living hell out of you and enjoy doing it.

: Gulp.

: Are you aware you are under a restricted liscence?

: I nod.

: And you drove up here... Would you like me to write you a ticket right now for that?

: Blink. Blink.

: I am still within my time limitations, sir... is that necessary? I'd prefer you didn't...

: Cop #2 pulls out his cuffs and opens them.

: Be quiet! Listen to the other officer or I'll put you in jail tonight, I swear it.

: We don't want her to go to jail... But we have cancelled your insurance and we're sorry. But you stole us blind while we were away. You hurt us badly... How can you do that? Those coins had been saved since Ricky died...

: She started to cry.

: I don't care to hear you sentimental stories, Smurf. Can we get back to the point?

: Look, you're no,longer allowed to come here. They want their key which was already with the stuff and you are never to return to this residence without an invitation from your grandparents. And again, how dare you treat them in such a way. In my family... Never mind, it's not worth wasting my breath. Youi friend there has a valid liscense, he can drive you home. Now go.

: I did. I got into the car, and Charon drove us home, me crying like mad all the way.

: Fucking family... Sometimes I wonder how the hell they are related to me...
