It is not scientifically impossible to make someone gay. Studies in psychology have found many possible biological reasons for why a person might be gay. Brain structure is a possibility, levels of testosterone, estrogen and androgen released in the brain is another.
Environmentally limitations should be taken into consideration as well. Regardless of whether or not the opposite sex happens to be around at the time, those hormones are still going to be there. Sexual tension can cause normally straight animals to do some rather abnormally gay things. Examples can be seen in dogs, primates, snakes and even humans (the prison stories are true). There is even a slight evolutionary benefit from having a species that tends towards a homosexual existence. Of course this only works for women, but then no one ever said that evolution was perfect.
