The first thing I did this morning after I woke up — second, actually, after noticing that it was a good thing I cancelled my appointment yesterday — was take a walk down to Smoker Friendly with Gremlin.
On the way there, we stopped in at the Starbucks in Safeway to get some coffee. That took us past what used to be the nearby video/dvd/game rental store. They closed for good on October 1st, after one last big ‘help us get rid of our stuff’ sale, and it looks like the place already has new buyers or lesees or whatever they’re called.
I think I might miss them, but I don’t think what I’ll miss is fair to the people that owned the place. They had this great sale when they were going out of business — especially on that last day. Five dollar games, three dollar movies.
Gremlin got this Grand Theft Auto knockoff for the GameCube called Roadkill — he thought it was a TwistedMetal knockoff when he grabbed it. He got about ten games, in all — PS2 and Gamecube — and a huge stack of movies. I now have the remake of The Shining and Rose Red on DVD, and I didn’t have to spend a lot on them, either.
I wonder what’s going to go in there next. I’m not sure what my luck allows for. I can think of a few neat things that I’d like to have in walking distance, but a few of them would be really bad, because I’m kinda hoping to save money….
I kinda thought I was going to end up having a really bad day after I got back home. My computer started acting like it wanted me to kill it. Then, UPS showed up with the BDUs I ordered from bdu.com, and they sent me the wrong pair — the size and colour were right, but they were 100% cotton ‘summer’ BDUs. Not what I ordered. They responded quickly and are taking care of the problem at what appears to be no cost to me, so things are a little better.
Also, I ended up getting a good laugh over this horrible mail-order catalogue I got in the mail yesterday. Okay, actually, it was the people who lived here two years ago who got it, but what the hell am I going to do, send it back?
Anyway, there was this horrible product… tree faces. You just have to see it to understand….
And I met another member of an endangered species — people who use full sentences when chatting through Yahoo IM. She’s got a website: http://removies.net/.
I guess today could still turn bad, though. There’s not much keeping it ‘good’, and I feel sick.
