Gamefly needs to pick an option….

A little bit ago, the USPS raised stamp prices — it seemed like the 7,501st time they’ve done that since I started buying stamps, and it pissed me off a bit. Especially since I’d just bought a roll of 100.

Shortly after that, Gamefly sent me a message saying that monthly prices would be going up by…a dollar, or something. Which, yeah, I expected that.

On Saturday, I got my copy of Destroy All Humans 2 from them, and it showed up without the little cardboard insert they always used to have.

At first, I thought maybe it was a mistake, because who would send a game through the mail like that? Even a relatively old and inexpensive one. So I emailed them about it.

I said something like this:

I got Destroy All Humans 2 on Saturday, 23 June 2007, and the game sleeve was in the envelope without a cardboard insert. Is this something new you’re doing? Not including the cardboard thing that protected the discs?

And their reply?

Thank you for contacting GameFly. We are in the process of testing the shipment of items without cardboard. We request that you simply return the item as you received it. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

GameFly Customer Service

So, yes. They are sending things without cardboard. But why? Wasn’t the price increase enough to cover it? Or are they trying to bring things down so they can bring their prices back to where they were?

Can we maybe pick one? Is that too much to ask?

Go on, say something....
