Sure, but I don't think that, when dealing with
such large and dangerous snakes, one should be
so...closedminded...about new information, and betterment through
education. The thing that keeps getting me here is the
blatant shooting down of 'book learning'....
I'm
not saying 'believe everything you read', but, shit,
some people write those books for a
reason....

fine with me,except this najaboy character engages in personal attacks,i don't care how much knowledge he has-that is unstable behavior.

If you look back, you weren't exactly innocent of personal attacks....

You claim you never initiate. What is post 120 in
response to? This looks like the initiation of a personal
attack to me:
"of there's one thing i don't
like,it's a 20 year old who thinks he's an expert.i've had
snakes for over 16 years.i think i know what i'm talking
about.you are right about red tail boas, but even they can
sense temperature changes with their tongues &
skin.actual observation is worth more than a thousand books &
websites. "

"I'm not entirely sure this is an 'agree to
disagree' situation. It's not a matter of opinion over
which animal is 'better', it's a matter of someone
disputing a known fact."
- I agree with Hunter on
this. Its not like you are debating which color, green
or blue, is better. We are talking about living
creatures, snake and human alike. And without proper
information, one or both of those creatures can be at serious
risk. I've read all the posts, and i agree with BMF,
naja and the rest who argue their FACTS. And just
because you haven't had problems houseing a retic and
ball python in the same cage, doesn't mean you wont,
and doesn't mean that problems are waiting to ambush
you right around the corner. It just means, for lack
of a better word, that you are LUCKY. I don't think
we need to agree to disagree, we need to drop it,
get it over with and go back to normal...whatever
that may be...and some of us need to open our minds
alittle and realize that we don't have the answers to
everything. I concider myself knowledged in horses, snakes,
rats, the internet and computers, but never will I say
I know everything, or walk around acting as though
I do. I opened my mind up many years ago and live
much better since then.
snake11215:
Your
comment about the age thing really sickened me. I am 19
years old and If you'd like to have an age/experiance
war with me then email me. I can tell you about the
19 ft female burm who was terribly agressive, that I
helped rescue and "tame" into a gentel giant that will
rest its head on your lap. Or the Emerald Tree Boa
that I was quite close to when i was a young child.
And many other things. Its not age that matters,
that's only a number, its how you live and what you've
done that counts.

i'll end it with this-there are many things too
long & complicated to print here.it would take up way
too much space,& besides,i don't type that fast-it
would take forever.all i can say is that i know the
personality of my snakes.they are not specimens-they are
household pets,as much as any dog or cat.they even know the
difference between me & strangers.this is a completely
different world from those in the scientific community,&
the snakes know the routines.not only do they live
together,but they get"depressed"when separated for feeding.i
see them in a very different way-not the
cold, impersonal way that people like najaboy do(air force?i was a
marine officer,& i know the attitude.question-how many
times have you gotten your ass kicked over your
arrogance?had to be at least once.service personel don't play
that s**t).each snake has a unique personality,& must
be dealt with accordingly.that's assuming of course
that you take the time to get to know them,& not just
study them in a cold & removed way.i admit i'm not the
greatest expert, but i'm not an amateur either.it is
possible that i've observed things from personal
experience that so-called experts haven't,perhaps because
they're point of view won't allow them to do so.as i
said-everyone i know has healthy snakes.this is all i have to
say on this matter.i real things to deal with(such as
the world series-go yankees!!).from now on,najaboy
can talk to himself.
